EUREKA’S Objectives
The objectives of EUREKA’s first operational year include:
- Set up an operational infrastructure for logistical support. We currently have physical space graciously made available by the City of Siracusa. We will also build in the initial period some fundamental components in support of the operation, namely business development, administrative and IT support;
- Organize and conduct the inaugural Consensus Conference with a panel of experts from various international universities to create the teaching staff and the plan of studies for the Master in Translational Medicine (MTM) degree;
- Build the essential elements of the network of collaboration and scientific advisory board with an initial core of scientists available to share ideas, material and human resources, and are available to support various components of the initiative;
- Research financial support through public and private donors.
Long term objectives include:
- Establish a fully operational and autonomous international School that is recognized and affiliated with the universities involved in the project;
- Organize and conduct annual Consensus Conferences in the field of Translational Medicine;
- Expand the authoritative core of the Network with competent scientists from the various individual components of translational research. Within the objectives of the Institute is the focused support of individual research projects with particular attention pediatric and orphan diseases.
Scientific Leadership
Scientific leadership will be provided by qualified members of the network. The founders are: Salvatore Albani, MD, PhD, serving as president, Roberto Risicato, MD, serving as executive director, and Berent Prakken, MD, PhD, serving as scientific director.
